Alyson Fox for Solare

Our shop muse, Georgia O’Keeffe epitomized our ethos of self-care for strength and creativity - how important is self-care for supporting your creativity?

From an early age, I was sensitive to what I need in order to be my best self. Sometimes, that changes but the need for making things will always be a part of me. I am very fortunate to have a studio and time to work on things because that really makes me feel alive and gives my life meaning and ease. We also live on some land outside of the city and that is really nurturing me right now.

I was fortunate to tour Georgia’s house in Abiquiu earlier this year and I felt a very strong connection to her ways and world. I teared up in her studio. I would have loved to make her a cup of tea and sit down for a nice long chat.

"The need for making things will always be a part of me."

Can you speak to the importance of recharging in your daily life and tell us your go-to self-care rituals?

It’s pretty vital to my existence. I wear my emotions on my sleeve so it is important to check in with myself.

Loving on our puppy, holding hands with my husband, making healthy meals, saying yes to more spontaneous things, going outside and standing on the ground barefoot, yoga, doing a drawing a day, showering outside, making a cup of tea, collecting things on walks…in no particular order.

Alyson Fox Solare Woman Interview

What women inspire strength, creativity, and/or intentional living to you and why?

I celebrate all women. There is something to learn from each and every one of us. I recently read “the most powerful person in the world is a woman with no ego, they can change the world”.

I really admire women who support women. We can be incredibly competitive and not support each other sometimes and that makes me sad.
