Model and co-founder of Canyon Coffee, Ally Walsh, lives and loves in Los Angeles. When she's not traveling for photo shoots she's off curating coffee guides around the globe. Mellow, confident, and endearing - Ally shows us the importance of rituals as a means of self-care.
Our shop muse, Georgia O’Keeffe epitomized our ethos of self-care for strength and creativity - how important is self-care for supporting your creativity both in Canyon Coffee and personal life?
Self-care is essential. It's choosing to take care of myself so I can be my best. If I don't create the time and space I'm just simply not as grounded and collected throughout the day. It's harder to focus. I'm not as free to be creative because I'm more likely to get caught up in the little things.
Georgia O'Keeffe is also a big inspiration for me, as well as for Canyon Coffee. I love how fearless she was, trekking alone across northern New Mexico in her converted Model T art studio. For her, making art was crucial to her self-care. She didn't let anything get in the way between her and that.
Can you speak to the importance of recharging in your daily life and tell us your go-to self-care rituals?
I think my whole day is set up better if I start it right. Meditating first thing in the morning, heating up water, grinding Canyon Coffee beans and making a pour-over. It’s simple, but having that buffer between waking up and starting my day just allows me the chance to wake up and feel centered.
I usually break up the day with a hike, yoga, or a lunch or coffee date with a friend. And then nothing is more recharging than treating myself to one of the Korean spas at night.

What women inspire strength, creativity, and/or intentional living to you and why?
Alice Waters. I just love how intentional she is with all that she does in business and life. I admire her for starting one restaurant, doing it to the best of her ability, and thinking about the well-being and happiness of everyone involved in the business.
